Electronic Monitoring in Europe – Key Findings from Belgium

Electronic Monitoring in Europe: Key Findings from Belgium

The national workshop on Electronic Monitoring in Europe: Key findings from Belgium provided an opportunity to hear about, and engage with, the findings of the European Commission funded project entitled: ‘Creativity and Effectiveness in the use electronic monitoring (EM) as an alternative to imprisonment in EU member states’. The research was carried out in five jurisdictions (Belgium, England & Wales, Germany, the Netherlands and Scotland) providing up-to-date analysis of current and future uses of EM in each jurisdiction as well as insights gained from the first comparative EM research in the EU.

At the workshop the main findings of the research in Belgium were presented in the context of the broader findings arising from the comparative research. Critical reflections will be provided by academic experts, policy-makers and practitioners.

The workshop took place in Brussels on 25th February 2016 at the International Associations Centre (Maison des Associations Internationales), rue Washington 40, 1050 Brussels, Belgium.

The languages spoken at the workshop were Dutch, French and English. Simultaneous translation was provided during the event.

Participants interested in the main findings of the comparative research are also encouraged to attend the conference on Electronic Monitoring in Europe on 18th February 2016.
